Center for Puppetry Arts Sensory-Friendly Program

Share

You’re invited to visit the Center for Puppetry Arts on Sunday, August 30 for a fun, special sensory-adapted programming for guests with ASD!

Join us for a special afternoon of sensory-friendly programming, including a performance of:

Come one, come all! Aesop’s circus is in town! A crane, a lion, a tortoise, a hare, and other fun animals from Aesop’s fantastic fables take the stage in this cheerful, interactive production specifically designed for the very young. Arrive early for a special pre-show activity!

Here’s a preview:

This special afternoon will allow guests with autism spectrum disorder to experience a sensory-friendly performance and Create-A-Puppet Workshop. Alterations include theater lights dimmed down but not out, consistent sound levels and lower volume of show soundtrack, freedom for children to talk and to leave their seat if necessary, and permission to bring quiet, contained snacks and beverages.  There will also be a nearby quiet zone with fiddle toys.

Create-A-Puppet Workshop classrooms will be brighter, quieter, and feature less-messy puppet building materials and slightly simplified puppet designs. Guests will be welcomed by staff members who have been trained in interactions with patrons with ASD.

Pardon Our Progress:
The Center will continue to present performances, workshops, and films throughout the construction of our museum expansion. The construction does not affect our parking lot. Follow the “Puppet Parking” sign to enter our parking lot from 18th Street.
