Who: Professionals from the Marcus Autism Center will be presenting to parents and caregivers of children with Autism Spectrum and related disorders. Other professionals such as school psychologists, early intervention providers, and SLPs are welcome to attend. This workshop will qualify for BCBA CEUs.

What: This 2-day workshop will provide parents and caregivers information and training on foundational Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodology. Attendees will be walked through the process of determining what types of skills to teach based on assessment of their child’s current strengths and weaknesses. The workshop will focus on two types of teaching procedures, task analysis and discrete trial, and when each is appropriate for use. Variations of discrete trial teaching will be presented to give attendees information about how to individualize programming to meet their child’s individual needs. Emphasis will be placed on the inclusion of natural environment teaching strategies and pairing reinforcement with instruction to promote eager and willing participation. This workshop is appropriate for a parent or caregiver who wishes to gain knowledge about effective ways to teach their child new skills or routines.
