Understanding the IEP – Series

This workshop was created for parents and caregivers of individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities who want to understand more about working with schools through the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. The first presentation will cover the basics of the IEP and is required in order to attend the follow up seminars. The first follow-up, IEP Goal Writing, will review how to select and write goals for their children. Parents are encouraged to bring current IEPs to review individually. The second, IEP: Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), will cover how to address problem behavior that occurs in school. Parents are encouraged to bring current BIP to discuss.

This workshop series is appropriate for a parent or caregiver who wishes to work collaboratively with their school and those who have children enrolling in public education for the first time. This 3-part series will be repeated a few times throughout the year.

April 2016

Introduction = Tuesday April 4, 2016: 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

IEP: Goal Writing = Tuesday April 11, 2016: 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

IEP: Behavior Intervention Plans = Tuesday April 18, 2016: 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

September 2016

Introduction = Monday September 7, 2016: 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

IEP: Goal Writing = Monday September 14, 2016: 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

IEP: Behavior Intervention Plans = Monday September 14, 2016: 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Registration
